With the success rate of selling quickly, the preparation process for selling a home took less than a month for almost 50% of those selling a home that took the survey at realtor.com. 20% of those that took the survey reported they completed their home preparations for selling in less than two weeks.
A majority of these sellers that expected to get their homes sold quickly smartly followed recent homebuyer trends with the help of the real estate agent. As mortgage rates and home prices are on the rise there are many home buyers that are serious about finding a home as quickly as possible before it ends up costing them thousands of extra dollars.

While the home inventory is remaining, low this leaves current buyers with fewer options to choose from and it also means that buyers have relaxed a little bit on expecting homes to be perfectly turnkey when they purchase. This relaxation in expectancy enables current homeowners to focus less of their time making sure their home is immaculate before listing their home for sale. There are still some things that sellers should do to clean up their homes and make them look presentable but it is much less demanding than the expectations buyers set for what they wanted to see in homes just a few years ago. According to the survey most of the work sellers did before listing their home included minor items like landscaping replacing light fixtures and making sure paint was fresh.
