4 Easy Steps to a Clutter-Free Kitchen
4 Easy Steps to a Clutter-Free Kitchen – No matter your kitchen design aesthetic, clutter does not look good in the kitchen. Almost countless jars on the counters, towers of dishes, a sink crammed full of who knows what, the cleaning supplies under the sink overflowing and causing the cupboards not to close. Extra clutter creates stress, as many studies have shown and the last place you want stress-inducing clutter is in the most used room in your home.
Here are four easy steps to help keep your kitchen streamlined and stress-free without a ton of time commitment. 4 Easy Steps to a Clutter-Free Kitchen
Rack it Up
Consider placing some racks made specifically for dishes and things like cookie sheets in the cupboard or even on those popular open shelves to more easily display and access your dishes. While you are reorganizing the cupboards, consider all of the items you have. Do you really need twenty different coffee mugs, or five pie plates when you have never even baked a pie?
Do a Hand-Dishwashing Tool Edit
Instead of having a pile of 10 different dish sponges, scraper tools, and bottles of soap lining your sink, edit it down to one or two multipurpose tools that can perform more than one job. For example, a non-scratch scrubber sponge that you can place dish soap in the handle.
This tool does the work of three as it has a gentle scrubber that will work on crusty gunk without scratching non-stick surfaces, it spreads the soap around like a sponge, and has a continuous supply of soap in the handle. This takes up much less space than having two tools and a bottle of soap.
Another way to keep tools from forming into an unsightly pile all around the sink and taking up valuable space is to store them together in a container next to the sink or holders made to place on the wall of the sink.
One Uniform Storage System
One of the toughest places to keep tidy and easy to find things is the pantry or food cupboards. It would be so much nicer if food packages were all made to fit nicely together in the cupboards wouldn’t it? There would be no frustrating game of Tetris to get it all to fit nicely, where it is visible from the front, and doesn’t topple over when the door is open. This is why it is worth it to invest in a uniform pantry organization system.
Take all the dry goods like flour, pasta, nuts, etc. and place them in canisters that fit well together on the shelves. Not only will it be easier to handle it will look better too. It will also cut down on buying things you already have because you will more easily see what is in the cupboards.
Cut Down on Cleaners
Yes, certain cleaners do make certain tasks much easier, but to cut down on that mess of things under the kitchen sink make sure you have the right and effective cleaners to get certain jobs done.
For example a glass cooktop: you can look up how to get those boiled water marks from the pasta water spillage last night off and end up with a steel wool pad, soft rag, and several different sprays that are supposed to remove it. OR you could just go buy one glass cooktop cleaning pad made specifically for the purpose of getting those things off of the stove surface. Same goes for other areas. Get the right and effective tools and cut down on a lot of clutter. Creating a clutter-free kitchen takes a little work but it’s worth it!
