Home Buyer Question: What If I Hate Every Home We Look At?
What If I Hate Every Home We Look At? There are some home buyers the know exactly what they want and when they see it they’ll know. Other buyers may have no idea what to look for and even though they are open-minded, nothing seems to stand out as a home they’d really want to buy. There are a lot of things to consider, especially if you are a first time home buyer, but we are here to help you every step of the way!
As a Home Buyer, You Don’t Need to Know Exactly What You Want
A lot of real estate agents might think that this is a waste of time but there are benefits to knowing what you hate. It’s only when we know what we absolutely don’t want that we can understand what actually makes us happy. It’s only knowing what we’re not to understand what we truly are. Yes, I might be getting a little bit philosophical this morning, but, don’t be fooled by a house that looks all pretty from the outside because it may not be the right house for you.
Homeowners and sellers can stage design their homes to appeal to a wide mass of home buyers but this also could be masking more serious issues such as structural foundation or home integrity. A lot of homeowners and investors can paint a pretty color on the wall of the house that falls down. Purchasing that home will only make you regret your decision later on.
Homes that might not look so pretty force us to look past the surface area into the real logistics and practicality of the property. Is it in an area in which you want to live? In a school district of your choice? Close to shops, markets and restaurants? Does it have enough space for you and your family? These are things that matter beyond the aesthetics of a property.
Bottom line: don’t be discouraged if you’re just not finding a home you love. This is probably forcing you to look past the aesthetics into a property that will really meet your needs. And it’s okay; some buyers take months to find the right house looking through dozens of different properties. This might sound exhausting, but when it comes to purchasing a home, you want to make sure that you are investing in a house that you’ll love for years to come. When partnering with the right real estate agent, you should never feel rushed or pressured to purchase a home you don’t love, patience is key!
